A Spanish cottage designed by Clark Lawrence in 1927 in Palm Beach, this little house sits on one of the best streets in town. It has endless and beautiful views of the Everglades Club golf course.
We treaded lightly and restored where we could since this is a landmarked house. But the facade begged for improvement and we were allowed to add a parapet wall, cypress and cast stone elements to the door and balcony, and to build a charming pool in the front yard.
The house is filled with Spanish and Italian antiques. The great room has a 30 foot ceiling with paneling and beams. We replaced most of the doors and windows with steel ones which brightened the rooms. And in the middle of this enchanting house is a secret courtyard for dining and entertaining.
This was a terrifically satisfying project. We took a house that was lost and put it back in the spotlight!
